[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] Huons Global has established an overseas corporation in Japan following the United States.
On the morning of the 18th, Huons Global announced that its board of directors approved the establishment of a local corporation, 'Huons Japan (JAPAN),' in Osaka, Japan. This is the second overseas corporation after 'Huons USA (USA),' established in Seattle, Washington, USA, in April 2020 to target the US market.
Huons Japan will be responsible for expanding exports to Japan and local distribution and sales of Huons Group's healthcare portfolio, including pharmaceuticals, beauty and pharmaceuticals, medical devices, health functional foods, and cosmetics. Additionally, it will serve as a bridgehead between Huons Group and local Japanese companies, promoting joint research and development (R&D), introduction of advanced pharmaceutical technologies, and license in-out activities.
The new head of Huons Japan has been appointed as President Keiji Kamada. President Kamada has worked in the Japanese pharmaceutical and healthcare industry for 38 years. He served as head of production at Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Korea, head of management planning, and CEO. He also handled special tasks and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in the management planning division at Nipro Japan. With experience spanning pharmaceutical production, contract manufacturing and R&D, production system establishment, and process improvement, he is considered the right person to lead Huons Japan’s early stabilization and successful entry into the Japanese market. Furthermore, Huons Global CEO Sooyoung Song, who served as CEO of Deloitte Consulting Japan and has over 20 years of experience in the Japanese management consulting industry, is expected to create synergy with the new management team.
A Huons Global official stated, “Japan has high interest and demand for healthcare products such as health functional foods and medical devices, and with the aging population and shortage of generics, demand for overseas pharmaceuticals is expected to continue increasing.” He added, “Japan ranks 4th globally in the pharmaceutical market and 2nd in health functional foods, making it a market with high potential and growth. We established the Japanese corporation to enhance the overseas market penetration of Huons Group’s core pharmaceutical business and to expand the target markets of future strategic businesses such as health functional foods and medical devices overseas.”
