Yeonggwang-gun Hosts Beopseongpo Danojangsa Ssireum Tournament After 3 Years

[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 18th that the ‘2022 Yeonggwang Beopseongpo Dano Festival Dano Jangsa Ssireum Competition’ will be held for three days from the 3rd to the 5th of next month.

As the ‘Yeonggwang Beopseongpo Dano Festival,’ a representative cultural festival of the West Coast, which had not been held due to the impact of COVID-19, is being held for the first time in three years, the representative contest event, the ‘Dano Jangsa Ssireum Competition,’ will also be held in tandem, promising to be filled with more passionate enthusiasm than ever before.

This competition, including the Presidential Cup National Ssireum King Jeollanam-do Selection Tournament, will feature about 850 amateur enthusiasts and elite athletes participating in the general division team event (5 members) for towns and townships, local elementary, middle, and high school team events (3 members) and individual events (2 members), as well as elite individual events for elementary, middle, and high schools in the Honam region, showcasing high-level matches.

A county official said, “The ‘Yeonggwang Beopseongpo Dano Festival Dano Jangsa Ssireum Competition,’ which will be one of the biggest attractions of the Yeonggwang Beopseongpo Dano Festival held for the first time in three years, is expected to greatly contribute not only to revitalizing the local economy but also to heightening the festive atmosphere of Dano.”

Meanwhile, the Beopseongpo Dano Festival Ssireum Competition will hold preliminary matches at the Beopseongpo New Town special Ssireum stadium from the 3rd to the 4th of next month, and the final matches are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on the 5th of next month.
