[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Jinju Passenger Bus Terminal urban development project is progressing smoothly.
Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 18th that the project, which is being promoted to serve as a transportation hub for the 1 million population living area in the south-central region of South Korea due to changes in conditions such as the early commencement of the Western Gyeongnam KTX (Southern Inland High-Speed Railway) and the establishment of a public hospital in Western Gyeongnam, is proceeding normally.
The Jinju Passenger Bus Terminal urban development project has completed the implementation plan approval about one year earlier than the Sinjinju Station area urban development project, so it is in a normal state without delay.
The Passenger Bus Terminal urban development project applied for designation of the urban development zone and establishment of the development plan to Gyeongnam Province in July 2017, and completed consultations with related departments and fulfilled Gyeongnam Province's supplementary requirements by December 2018. Then, after review by the Gyeongnam Provincial Urban Planning Committee, the designation of the urban development zone and establishment of the development plan were announced in December 2019.
From January 2020, after the announcement of the compensation plan for public inspection, compensation for private land was completed, followed by the designation of the implementer in October 2020 and approval of the implementation plan in February 2022.
After completing the local construction technology review, which is a condition for the implementation plan approval, site preparation is scheduled to begin in June. Starting with the site preparation work, the entire construction, including the new terminal building, is expected to be completed by 2025.
A city official said, “We will focus administrative efforts to ensure that site preparation and the construction of the terminal building proceed promptly to provide a pleasant transportation environment.”
