[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] BMW Korea Future Foundation announced on the 18th that it has signed a business agreement with Incheon Tourism Organization to expand the use of eco-friendly energy.

This agreement was established to promote cooperation for expanding the use of eco-friendly energy within the Incheon community by utilizing the mobile energy storage unit "Next Green To-Go," operated by BMW Korea Future Foundation.

The signing ceremony held on the 17th at the BMW Driving Center in Yeongjongdo, Incheon, was attended by several officials including Yu Si-gyeong, Head of Incheon Tourism Organization, and Ko Heung-beom, Secretary General of BMW Korea Future Foundation. The ceremony proceeded with an explanation of the agreement, signing of the agreement, inspection of Next Green To-Go, and a tour of the BMW Driving Center.

BMW Korea Future Foundation plans to participate in public interest events hosted by Incheon Tourism Organization by providing eco-friendly electricity using Next Green To-Go, and to contribute to the community and public interest by offering education related to mobile energy storage using electric vehicle batteries.

Ko Heung-beom, Secretary General of BMW Korea Future Foundation, said, “It is meaningful that a more systematic plan for collaboration with Incheon City has been established through mutual cooperation with Incheon Tourism Organization,” and added, “We will actively utilize Next Green To-Go in the future to contribute to the public interest and continue our responsibility for environmental protection and sustainability.”

Meanwhile, Next Green To-Go, unveiled in March, is a project that expands the concept of an eco-friendly charging station first introduced by BMW Group Korea in 2019 at Jeju’s ‘e-Gopang,’ utilizing electric vehicle batteries as mobile eco-friendly energy storage systems (ESS).

BMW Korea Future Foundation will supply energy for public interest activities such as environmental events using Next Green To-Go. It plans to circulate among disaster-affected areas, local governments, NGOs, and social welfare institutions that require mobile device charging, supplying energy in an eco-friendly manner. Additionally, it intends to provide the energy storage units to institutions wishing to use them as educational and research materials, thereby contributing to nurturing domestic talent and industry-academic research activities.
