Korea Iron & Steel Association Holds the 1st Steel Video Contest Data provided by Korea Iron & Steel Association

[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] The Korea Iron & Steel Association is holding the "1st Steel Video Contest" and is accepting submissions from the general public until July 31.

This contest was newly established to widely promote the excellence and eco-friendliness of steel and to raise awareness of the steel industry, following the recent increase in interest in video content. It is planned to be held biennially, alternating with the existing steel photo exhibition.

The contest themes are "Steel and Eco-friendliness" and "Steel that Helps Life" (Life+ Steel). Creative and fresh content that well expresses themes such as steel in daily life (kitchenware, automobiles, ships, home appliances, buildings, bridges, etc.), the eco-friendliness of steel (infinitely recyclable steel), and the excellence of steel are invited.

The contest is divided into two categories: General (short videos, snack videos) and Children (snack videos). A separate children’s category has been established to increase future generations' interest in the steel industry. There are no restrictions on genre or format for submissions. Videos with a resolution of at least 1280 pixels by 720 pixels can be submitted. For eligibility, the general category has no restrictions, while the children’s category is for those aged 13 and under.

The total prize money for the contest is 30 million KRW, with the grand prize winner expected to receive 10 million KRW. The selection of winners will take place in August, and an awards ceremony and screening event are planned for September.

The Korea Iron & Steel Association’s Public Relations Committee, which is organizing the event, expects this contest to increase public interest in the steel industry and enhance general understanding of steel’s eco-friendliness and excellence.

The Korea Iron & Steel Association has launched a dedicated contest website for submissions. Detailed information such as prize money by category and important notes can be found on the website. Additionally, considering that the steel industry may be unfamiliar to children and others, general explanatory materials (videos, etc.) about the industry are provided on the Steel Cyber Promotion Hall section of the Korea Iron & Steel Association’s website.
