GS Retail, Customer Participation Eco-Friendly Campaign... "Used Clothes Upcycling"

GS Retail, Customer Participation Eco-Friendly Campaign... "Used Clothes Upcycling" On the 18th, a GS Shop shopping host introduced an eco-friendly campaign while holding upcycled bags and dolls made from secondhand clothing.

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] GS Retail announced on the 18th that it will conduct the 'Saving the Earth with Eco-friendliness' campaign, donating used clothes together with employees and customers until the 5th of next month.

This campaign is conducted in collaboration with Beautiful Store, where donated used clothes that are no longer worn are either resold or upcycled into educational kits that children can use to make nap cushions, as an eco-friendly activity.

Last year, over 1,000 people donated 5,877 pieces of clothing. GS Retail and Beautiful Store made bags from the donated clothes and returned them, or upcycled them into educational kits distributed to about 1,000 children. Beautiful Store analyzed that through clothing recycling, 8,454 trees were saved and 23 tons of carbon emissions were reduced.

To expand this year's campaign, GS Retail will give a GS25 3,000 KRW coupon for every box containing three pieces of clothing to all participating customers. If the donated clothes amount to six pieces, sending them divided into two boxes will earn two coupons. Customers who wish to participate should cleanly wash items such as T-shirts, dress shirts, blouses, and jeans, and send them via GS Half-Price Courier Service.

A GS Retail official said, “To promote ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management, we will strive to create a culture of environmental protection by conducting campaigns together not only with employees but also with customers.”
