Millie Original 'Daehwanjang Party'... New Works by Sim Neoul, Eunrim, and Im Eojin Released

[Asia Economy Reporter Seo Mideum] As the popularity of Korean-style SF novels continues to rise, Millie's Library is partnering with the Korean Science Fiction Writers Alliance to begin serializing SF novels.

The reading platform Millie's Library announced on the 17th that it will premiere science fiction (SF) short stories as Millie's Library original content in collaboration with the Korean Science Fiction Writers Alliance. From this month through July, the first season, lasting three months, will exclusively present diverse new SF works under the theme "Great Chaos Party." Each month, three short stories covering different keywords will be released as Millie's Library original content. The Korean Science Fiction Writers Alliance is an organization supporting SF writers, led by writer Jeong Bora, who recently gained significant attention as a Booker Prize finalist.

The keyword for May is "Transaction," with short stories by writers Sim Neoul, Eun Rim, and Im Eojin serialized over nine days from Monday to Wednesday each week. The first released work is "Ice Cream," a new short story by Sim Neoul, winner of the 2019 SF Award Grand Prize. "Ice Cream" is set in a unique shop where all ice cream is sold at market price after consultation. Following this is Eun Rim's "Strange Ball," which tells the story of two lower-class friends attending a luxurious onboard banquet, and Im Eojin's "THEO," depicting the relationship between a rookie writer and an AI proofreader. In June and July, based on new keywords, another set of SF short stories will be presented by six writers, including Choi Uitaek, winner of the 1st Moon Yunseong SF Literary Award Grand Prize.

Kim Taehyung, Head of Content Business at Millie's Library, said, "With growing interest in SF novels, including Jeong Bora's 'Cursed Rabbit,' a recent Booker Prize finalist, we hope that the SF short stories presented together by Millie's Library and the Korean Science Fiction Writers Alliance will contribute to discovering more diverse stories." He added, "We will continue to do our best to discover content to expand daily reading through more varied content."
