[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Bo-ryeong] Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party, expressed that there is no reason to even consider the 'Kim Eun-hye - Kang Yong-seok unification.'

On the 17th, Lee stated on his Facebook, "I have not heard from anyone about the unification of the Gyeonggi Province governor candidates, and the term 'unification' itself is inappropriate."

This was a clear distancing from the situation where the unification between Kim Eun-hye, the People Power Party candidate for Gyeonggi Province governor, and Kang Yong-seok, an independent candidate, was being discussed.

Lee continued, "From the ruling party's perspective, there is no reason to even consider unification with forces that raise suspicions of election interference against the president," directly criticizing candidate Kang.

Candidate Kang recently claimed in an interview with Korea Economic Daily that President Yoon Seok-yeol, during his president-elect period, called him and said, in essence, "You should fight Kim Dong-yeon of the Democratic Party, not attack candidate Kim." The Democratic Party judged this as 'election interference.' However, the presidential office spokesperson stated in a press notice that "the president has not had any phone calls with lawyer (candidate) Kang Yong-seok."

Lee also shared on Facebook an article containing a radio interview where candidate Kim explained her past bad relationship with candidate Kang.
