Bibigo Chicken & Cilantro Dumplings is a flagship product that currently records the highest sales among dumplings sold in the U.S. market, targeting American consumers who prefer chicken and cilantro, and was launched in 2009.
CJ CheilJedang is reflecting consumer trends that prioritize personal taste over mass appeal by targeting the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z), who are active in seeking new experiences, and will introduce the product through Wadiz funding. The package design also adopts the concept of the professional basketball team LA Lakers’ uniform to differentiate it from existing Bibigo dumplings.
In this funding, six sets will be offered, including not only Chicken & Cilantro Dumplings but also ‘Korean BBQ Dumplings,’ which reinterpret galbi as dumplings, and the steady seller ‘Bibigo Wang Gyoja.’ Additionally, 15 supporters who fund the highest amounts will be selected to receive official LA Lakers uniforms, and among supporters who participate after signing up for notifications, 1,000 will be drawn to receive a 3-month premium subscription to the sports broadcasting channel SPOTV NOW. The funding period is from May 26 to June 16.
A CJ CheilJedang official said, “As Bibigo dumplings have established themselves as a representative K-food that has gained global popularity over the past decade, various success cases and localized product lineups have been accumulated,” adding, “We will continue to develop and launch products that lead global food trends and sustain the K-food craze through diverse boundary-free attempts.”
