SK Shielders to Execute Seoul City's 'Safe Village Security Guard' Project

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] SK Shieldus (CEO Park Jin-hyo) announced on the 17th that it has been selected as the main operator of the 'Seoul Safe Village Security Guard' project promoted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, taking the lead in creating a safe residential environment for single-person households and establishing a social safety net.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government's Special Task Force for Single-Person Household Measures selected 15 safe village zones in autonomous districts vulnerable to safety and prepared the 'Safe Village Security Guard' project to create a safe residential environment during late-night hours. As the main operator of this project, SK Shieldus will be responsible for the entire process from selecting security guards, operating the program, to verifying the effectiveness of the project. As of May, 63 Safe Village Security Guards have been selected and are stably carrying out the project, including completing new security training.

The selected Safe Village Security Guards patrol the 15 designated safe village zones in Seoul daily during nighttime hours. They focus on patrolling narrow roads with few people and difficult vehicle access, and will also perform on-site support activities. Safety inspections of facilities will be conducted concurrently.

SK Shieldus determined specific patrol routes through multi-risk assessments based on big data analysis. They collected vast data such as the distribution of single-person households, locations of five major violent crimes, number and location of streetlights, CCTV locations, police patrol routes, and police security center locations, analyzing crime risk to prioritize patrolling in high-risk areas.

The security guards patrolling the areas check their routes via a dedicated smartphone app and conduct GPS-based patrols. Patrol status is recorded and monitored in real time, and managers can monitor and manage activities across all 15 autonomous districts at once. The app includes additional features that allow real-time sharing of videos and photos with related departments, enabling quick information sharing when accidents or crime scenes are discovered.

Kim Young-joo, Head of the Converged Security Business Division at SK Shieldus, said, "Starting with this project, we will set an industry standard that analyzes crime risks based on data and promotes optimal crime prevention activities," adding, "We will do our best to create a city safe from crime."
