[Interview] Jeon Seong-su, People Power Party Candidate for Seocho District Mayor: "I Will Accelerate the Reconstruction Maintenance Plan"

[Interview] Jeon Seong-su, People Power Party Candidate for Seocho District Mayor: "I Will Accelerate the Reconstruction Maintenance Plan"

Jeon Seong-su, the People Power Party candidate for Seocho District Mayor, said in an interview on the 16th, "Since opening my office on March 11, I have been visiting sites and greeting residents for 65 days, and I have lost as much as 5kg," adding, "I will do my best until the voting day of the June 1 local elections."


Candidate Jeon presented solid local pledges.


First, he listed five core projects: ▲ Promotion of redevelopment and reconstruction projects ▲ Undergrounding of the Gyeongbu Expressway ▲ Designation of Yangjae as an R&D Innovation Hub ▲ Construction of the GTX-C Yangjae Station Transfer Center ▲ Relocation of the National Medical Center.


Regarding the reconstruction projects, he said, “There are 71 reconstruction areas in Seocho-gu, including Gubanpo 1, 2, 4 districts and 3 districts,” and added, “During the election campaign, I met residents who expressed strong desires to speed up the approval process for maintenance plans such as safety inspections, groundbreaking, and completion.” He stated that Mayor Oh Se-hoon is preparing a rapid integration plan, and that he will work as one team with Mayor Oh to support the realization of residents’ wishes.


Regarding the undergrounding of the Gyeongbu Expressway, he said, “Seoul City is currently conducting a feasibility study,” and “I plan to actively support the realization of the presidential pledge to underground the section from Hannam IC to Yangjae to Dongtan.”


Candidate Jeon did not hide his expectations, saying, “If the undergrounding of the Gyeongbu Expressway is realized, the two disconnected areas will be connected, and the map of Seocho will change.”


Along with this, as major policy projects to restore residents’ daily lives and create a safe living environment, he proposed ▲ Launching a 100-day daily recovery project team ▲ Continuous maintenance of alleys in front of homes ▲ Expansion of support centers for single-person households and continuous development of support policies.


To improve the residential environment in the era of climate crisis, he promised ▲ Establishing an IoT-based big data and AI prediction system for fine dust and temperature to forecast and respond ▲ Carrying out various resident-led climate environment practice projects ▲ Creating a wind forest path from the Han River to Umyeonsan Mountain.


He also pledged to take the lead in pregnancy, childbirth, and infant care by ▲ Implementing infertility support, newborn care, and maternal and infant support projects ▲ Expanding mother-child care facilities and diversifying and specializing services.


Additionally, he announced plans to ▲ Expand the Seocho-type shared daycare centers and increase and operate children’s play spaces ▲ Network Seocho’s human and material resources and actively promote equal educational opportunities for children from low-income families.


Furthermore, he said he would build a solid and reliable welfare system by ▲ Establishing a regional SOS care system and a welfare council involving both public and private sectors ▲ Supporting the development of services at the district-run child development center and child protection center and standardizing them nationwide to prevent welfare blind spots.


Candidate Jeon also promised to raise residents’ happiness index through ▲ Building and operating the Seocho Senior Plaza (Senior Center) to serve the elderly in the aging era ▲ Creating a city filled with cultural fragrance through the construction of the Seocho Culture and Arts Plaza ▲ Establishing a smart city to provide high-quality administrative services ▲ Offering hope and employment support to youth in the 4th industrial era ▲ Actively discovering support projects for small business owners facing difficulties ▲ Improving awareness of companion animals through education and hosting companion animal festivals to establish a mature companion culture.


Finally, Candidate Jeon said, “If the central government was transferred through the presidential election victory, the meaning of regime change will be realized only when the local government is entrusted through the local election victory,” and added, “I will definitely win the June 1 local elections and support the successful national administration of the Yoon Seok-yeol government.”


To this end, he expressed his view that he will join forces with the candidates who competed for the Seocho District Mayor position as one family to achieve the single goal of the success of the People Power Party government.


Candidate Jeon is a career administrative official who graduated from Seoul National University Law School, passed the 31st Administrative Examination, and served as Seoul City Administrative Director, General Affairs Director, Senior Administrative Officer at the Blue House, spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and Deputy Mayor of Incheon City.
