[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Department of Aviation Logistics at Silla University held a meaningful event on the 12th by inviting UPS practitioners for a roundtable discussion and visiting the company.
The event, conducted as part of the University Job Plus Center project, was organized to provide students of the Department of Aviation Logistics, which welcomed its first freshmen last year, with an opportunity to explore career paths by introducing actual job duties and related employment fields in the industry.
UPS specializes in transportation, air cargo, truck transportation, last-mile distribution, and drone delivery, operating over 1,000 sites in 120 countries.
It is the number one company in the third-party global logistics (3PL) sector, providing services to 220 countries and regions.
The Department of Aviation Logistics invited UPS practitioners of various ranks, including directors, deputy managers, managers, and staff, to impart practical knowledge related to aviation logistics such as Operation, Sales, and Solution. Students had a meaningful time resolving their questions through Q&A sessions with experts in each field.
They also visited the UPS Busan Center located in Sasang-gu, experiencing aviation logistics facilities and logistics systems firsthand, and participated in an on-site tour to understand the flow of international express air cargo.
Through the company visit, students had the opportunity to enhance their understanding of the latest trends in the logistics industry and overall industry processes, as well as to motivate themselves and strengthen their practical competitiveness in the aviation logistics sector.
Shin Young-seok, a sophomore in the Department of Aviation Logistics, said, “It was great to indirectly experience aviation logistics work, but it was even more beneficial to resolve questions I had about career paths and employment through the Q&A session.”
Kim Hong-ju, Director of UPS, said, “I hope this was of some help to students who will become future aviation logistics experts, and I look forward to the activation of more programs like this in the future.”
Kwon Seung-ha, head of the Department of Aviation Logistics, said, “We will focus on nurturing talent to lead the aviation industry through practical training and employment support that can enhance students’ capabilities and satisfaction.”
The Department of Aviation Logistics at Silla University operates a practice-oriented, student-tailored education system through industry-academic cooperation with professors who are aviation logistics experts from logistics companies, over 500 export companies in Busan, and the Korea Customs and Logistics Association, striving to cultivate aviation logistics experts.
