Jinbo Party Gwangju Branch "Please Help Us Grow into Gwangju's Leading Opposition Party and Parliamentary Negotiation Group"

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Joo-eop, the Progressive Party candidate for mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, along with eight city council candidates, appealed to make the Progressive Party the first opposition party and a negotiating group in the Gwangju city council.

They held a press conference at the Gwangju City Council on the morning of the same day, stating, "Before citizens even exercise their voting rights, more than half of the Gwangju City Council members were elected uncontested under the Democratic Party," and added, "Among parties other than the Democratic Party, only the Progressive Party, which has fielded six local district city council candidates and two proportional representation candidates, has the conditions to block the Democratic Party's one-party monopoly."

They continued, "The city council must have balance and checks to competitively create policies that solve civil complaints and bring changes to citizens' lives," emphasizing, "We earnestly appeal to make the Progressive Party, which will be the breakthrough to the Democratic Party's one-party monopoly, the first opposition party and a negotiating group in Gwangju."
