Trump: "Musk Will Not Buy Twitter at an Absurd Price"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] Former U.S. President Donald Trump said that Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, would not acquire Twitter at an absurd price. He also stated that Twitter is based on bots (automated spam software) and spam accounts, and that his own social networking service (SNS), 'Truth Social,' is better.

On the 13th (local time), former President Trump posted on Truth Social, "Elon Musk would never buy Twitter at such an absurd price, especially after realizing that it is largely based on bots (automated spam software) or spam accounts," expressing his opinion.

Trump's remarks came in response to Musk's tweet that he would temporarily pause the acquisition of Twitter. Earlier, Musk had posted on his Twitter account, "I am pausing the acquisition while I await details supporting the calculation that spam and fake accounts represent less than 5% of Twitter's users."

Regarding this, former President Trump said, "Even if he could, what would be left by the time those (fake accounts) are removed? Not much, right?" He added, "If it weren't for the penalty fee, Elon would have already quit the acquisition a long time ago." Musk agreed to pay a $1 billion (approximately 1.28 trillion KRW) termination fee if he cancels the contract with Twitter.

Former President Trump continued, "In my view, Truth Social is much better than Twitter and is growing explosively. The engagement is unbelievable." Although Trump had been an avid Twitter user, his account was permanently suspended after the January 6 Capitol riot last year due to concerns about inciting violence. Musk had called that a "bad decision" and expressed his intention to reverse it. However, former President Trump said he would remain on Truth Social even if his Twitter account is restored.
