[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul 50 Plus Foundation announced on the 16th that it will operate a 50 Plus Volunteer Corps with 900 members this year to enable the 50+ generation to contribute to solving social problems in various fields.
This year, volunteer activities will be conducted to support vulnerable groups, provide care by generation, and improve the environment and local communities by utilizing the experience and expertise of the 50+ generation. A total of 27 projects will be operated, divided into linked-type programs that continue activities after completing the 50 Plus Campus curriculum and open-call type programs that recruit participants separately for each project.
Volunteer activities operated as open-call type programs will recruit participants sequentially from May. Recruitment information for each project can be found on the 50 Plus Portal.
Lee Sung-soo, head of the project operations headquarters, said, “The current 50+ generation is a generation with a strong will to contribute to creating a better society,” adding, “We plan to expand support for customized social contribution activities for the 50+ generation to enhance their sense of accomplishment and to spread public interest services socially.”
