[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Samsung, the only one among the four major conglomerates to conduct open recruitment for new college graduate employees, held the 2022 first half GSAT (Graduate Samsung Aptitude Test) for level 3 (college graduates) on the 14th online.

The GSAT is conducted over two days with four groups in total, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Among the applicants who took the test on this day, the problem types and difficulty level were evaluated to be similar to previous years. The first half GSAT consisted of a total of 50 questions, including 20 math questions and 30 reasoning questions, with about 2 hours including 60 minutes for pre-check and 60 minutes for the test. It was reported that many questions related to Samsung Electronics, such as an applied problem on color combinations of Bespoke refrigerators, semiconductors, displays, and smartphone cameras, were included in the test.

Samsung has been conducting the GSAT written test online since the first half of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the fifth online GSAT. Applicants take the online GSAT using their personal computers. To prevent cheating, examinees must record themselves taking the test using a smartphone mounted on a stand, and supervisors monitor the examinees remotely through a monitoring system.

In the first half of this year, 18 Samsung affiliates participated in the Samsung open recruitment, including Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung SDI, Samsung C&T, Samsung Life Insurance, Samsung Biologics, Samsung Heavy Industries, Cheil Worldwide, and Hotel Shilla. Samsung plans to announce the final successful candidates around July after conducting interviews in June.

Earlier, Samsung announced last year that it will continue open recruitment to expand youth job creation and plans to hire 40,000 new employees over the next three years.
