Noh Gwan-gyu Issues Court Ruling Statement on Nomination of Unqualified Candidates

[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] No Gwan-gyu, independent candidate for Suncheon mayor, released a statement on the 13th saying, “The court’s decision regarding the People Power Party’s candidate for Ganghwa County mayor, reported by the media the day before, means that the party’s autonomous nomination process is subject to judicial review.”

No stated, “Even though the autonomy of political parties is guaranteed, if a party seriously and clearly violates its own party constitution and regulations, their validity can be subject to judicial review,” adding, “A primary election conducted including unqualified candidates without any grounds cannot be recognized as valid.”

According to Article 70, Paragraph 1, Item 3 of the Democratic Party’s Regulation No. 10 on the Recommendation of Public Office Candidates and Evaluation of Elected Officials, revised on October 8 last year, the first evaluation criterion for heads of basic local governments is morality and ethical competence.

In light of this harsh reality, and the opinions of many citizens, I express my position,” conveying three points.

▲ Repent and immediately withdraw the nomination, apologizing to the 280,000 citizens, for Congressman So Byung-chul, who ignored the Democratic Party’s constitution and regulations, disregarded the citizens of Suncheon, and was nominated despite a criminal record of “one year imprisonment for embezzlement in the course of duty, suspended for two years,” as recognized by the court. ▲ No Gwan-gyu will deeply reflect on the past and now, as a confident citizen candidate, will focus solely on the citizens. ▲ No Gwan-gyu will run the election solely with a clear vision and policies for the future.
