[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Changwon City in Gyeongnam Province will extend the route of Village Bus No. 8 from March 13 to run to Changwon Samsung Hospital in Masanhwoin-gu, Dongmasan Market, and Hapjeong Elementary School in Hapjeong 1-dong.

The city announced that it decided to extend the route of Village Bus No. 8 to improve public transportation convenience for local residents.

There have been continuous public transportation complaints from residents using Dongmasan Market and Changwon Samsung Hospital from Hapjeong 1-dong, and in April, a petition was received from 488 local residents including the president of the Dongmasan Merchants Association.

The city consulted with the bus company regarding the business plan change, and the route of Village Bus No. 8 was extended to run from Changwon Samsung Hospital to Dongmasan Market and Hapjeong 1-dong.

With the route extension, Village Bus No. 8 will operate 97 times a day with a 10-minute interval between buses.

A city official said, “This route adjustment will resolve public transportation inconveniences for residents using Dongmasan Market and those in Hapjeong 1-dong, making it easier to visit the market and hospital, thereby revitalizing the local commercial district and greatly aiding the economic recovery of small business owners.”

Jo Ilam, Director of the Safety, Construction, and Transportation Bureau, said, “We will do our best to gather residents’ opinions as much as possible when fully reorganizing city and village bus routes by the end of this year, to prepare a route plan centered on residents’ convenience.”
