[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Jin-tae Kim, the People Power Party candidate for Governor of Gangwon Province, has announced women's pledges including "expanding the basic childcare allowance in Gangwon Province to children up to 10 years old."

On the morning of the 9th, candidate Kim held a meeting with the Gangwon Province Women's Association at the Gangwon Province Women's and Family Research Institute in Chuncheon, stating, "We will expand the current basic childcare allowance in Gangwon Province, which is paid up to age 4, to age 10," and promised, "For children aged 5 and above, the allowance will be paid differentially according to age."

Regarding improvements to related systems such as delivery facilities, which are considered vulnerable facilities within the province, he pledged, "We will expand the operation of public health centers in the province to city and county medical centers, installing obstetrics and delivery rooms, as well as postpartum care centers," adding, "Starting with seven county areas classified as 'delivery vulnerable areas' without delivery rooms and postpartum care centers, we will gradually expand."

He continued, "We will prioritize installing obstetrics and internal medicine departments in public health centers and secure reliability through appointing retired obstetrics specialists as fixed-term public officials and supplementing with the latest medical equipment."

Additionally, he announced pledges such as "supporting job-seeking expenses for women with career interruptions" and "providing incentives to local companies that hire women with career interruptions."

Candidate Kim said, "We will implement women's policies not to provoke gender conflicts but to ensure that all residents of Gangwon Province can live safely and enjoy welfare."

He added, "The reality is that conditions for women in local areas are much more challenging compared to the metropolitan area," emphasizing, "'Making Gangwon Province a place where women are happy' is an essential condition for the opening of the 'Metropolitan Gangwon Era.'"
