Elderly Policy Pledges Also Include Child, Youth, and Women Policies

Changwon Mayor Candidate Heo Seong-mu, "We Must Provide Free Bus Rides for Seniors!" On the 9th, Heo Seong-mu, candidate for mayor of Changwon, Gyeongnam, announced policy pledges targeting the elderly, children, adolescents, and women.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Heo Seong-mu, candidate for mayor of Changwon, Gyeongnam, pledged the gradual free public bus fare for seniors aged 70 and over.


On the 9th, Candidate Heo presented senior citizen policy pledges through a press release, including ▲free public bus fare for those aged 70 and over ▲expansion of public housing supply for the elderly ▲plans to establish an integrated care system (Community Care Center) for the elderly and disabled ▲customized safety welfare support projects for elderly single-person households.


He said, “We will establish senior health parks regionally to promote health management and vitality for the elderly, and significantly expand park golf courses so they can be easily enjoyed.”


He also announced child and youth policies such as ▲implementation of free kindergarten education ▲establishment of a job experience center tentatively named ‘Job World’ for children and adolescents ▲creation of the world’s longest library and complex cultural space.


For women’s policies, he proposed ▲creation of 10,000 IT jobs for young women ▲establishment of a work-life balance support center ▲expansion of the Women Voucher Plus program and postpartum care cost support.


On the day, Candidate Heo expressed his aspiration, saying, “Together with families who love children and the elderly, I will create a happy Changwon Special City where all citizens can always live happily.”


He added, “During my four years as mayor of Changwon Special City, we acquired three major titles: WHO-certified age-friendly city, UNICEF-certified child-friendly city, and Ministry of Gender Equality and Family-certified women-friendly city phase 2,” and “we have been recognized for the successful implementation of policies in family sectors such as women, children, and the elderly.”
