Mid-sized Enterprises Sector: "New Government Must Maximize the Proactiveness of Companies as Key Economic Actors" Choi Jin-sik, Chairman of the Korea Federation of SMEs

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The mid-sized enterprise sector has requested the new government to "make every effort to maximize the entrepreneurial spirit of companies, which are the core agents of the economy and the source of national wealth, and to establish a dynamic growth paradigm where the private sector and government work together."

The Korea Federation of Mid-sized Enterprises stated in an official commentary under the name of Chairman Choi Jin-sik on the 8th, "We hope that the national mission of Korea's great transformation, centered on national interest, practicality, fairness, and common sense, as expressed in the Yoon Suk-yeol administration's national vision of 'A Korea that leaps forward again, a nation where all citizens prosper together,' will be fully realized."

Chairman Choi emphasized, "We must achieve a historic turning point for Korea's re-leap by carefully comforting the wounds left by the pandemic and presenting a hopeful vision for the future," adding, "We hope that the value of collective intelligence manifested in the presidential election, as a justification for justice and inclusion, will be carefully considered, and that the numerous conflicts will be actively resolved to urgently restore the lost social vitality."

He also said, "We must quickly establish a desirable foundation for the new economy as the basis for national prosperity," and added, "We need to significantly enhance the rationality of laws and systems to strengthen the stability and predictability of the industrial ecosystem, while accelerating the implementation of policies that improve market transparency and dynamism."

The commentary also included a request to "actively promote growth-oriented industrial strategies specified in the national agenda to promptly restore an innovation ecosystem where the growth ladder operates smoothly."

Chairman Choi added, "Above all, it is essential to deepen and expand direct communication between policy authorities and the field," emphasizing, "Through this, we must broaden practical policy space to enhance the competitiveness of mid-sized enterprises, which are the backbone and center of industry, by revitalizing flexible business restructuring and securing new growth engines."
