Yun Byeong-tae, Democratic Party Candidate for Mayor of Naju, Holds Successful Election Office Opening Ceremony

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] On the afternoon of the 7th at 4 PM, the opening ceremony of the election office for Yoon Byeongtae, the Democratic Party candidate for Mayor of Naju, and the launch of the Naju ‘Great Transformation Campaign Committee’ were successfully held on the 3rd floor of Leader's Tower on Bitgaram-ro, Naju, with about 1,000 invited guests and citizens in attendance.

The launch ceremony was attended by incumbent National Assembly members such as Shin Jeonghoon and So Byeongcheol, Democratic Party candidates for Jeonnam Governor Kim Youngrok, Democratic Party candidates for Naju regional provincial and city council members, mammoth-level campaign committee members including Kang Won-gu, and various figures, party members, and supporters.

In his greeting, candidate Yoon Byeongtae stated, “I have waited for an opportunity to serve Naju’s development while working for 28 years at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, the Blue House, and as Vice Governor of Jeonnam. Taking advantage of the once-in-a-thousand-years opportunity brought by the establishment of the Innovation City and Korea Energy University, I will make Naju the center of Honam and create a ‘200,000-strong global small but strong city’ leading the future of the Republic of Korea,” expressing his ambition.

Regarding ‘Why Yoon Byeongtae should become Mayor of Naju,’ he emphasized, “Naju has wasted precious eight years due to incompetent and corrupt city administration, including the lowest internal integrity rating for four consecutive years and endless personnel corruption,” adding, “This was because there was no clean leader or future-oriented leader. Now, a new leader with new leadership must renew Naju.”

He also presented seven major strategies to realize the vision of a ‘200,000-strong global small but strong city’: ▲ Revitalization of culture, tourism, and sports linked to the old downtown and Yeongsangang River ▲ Sustainable agriculture and vibrant rural communities ▲ Completion of Bitgaram Innovation City as a self-sufficient city full of pride ▲ Establishment of a future advanced science city leading the new energy industry ▲ Creation of a premium education city ▲ A welfare community city where everyone is happy ▲ A city hall that works properly and has been completely changed.

Along with this, candidate Yoon Byeongtae appealed, “This Naju mayoral election is a choice between regression to the past or progress to the future, a choice of a clean and competent mayor, and a choice of a hardworking mayor. I look forward to the wise judgment of the citizens,” urging, “Please choose Yoon Byeongtae, an economic and budget expert whose skills and abilities have been proven.”

Former Vice Governor Yoon Byeongtae is from Nampyeong, Naju. He graduated from Gwangju Commercial High School and Sungkyunkwan University, passed the 36th Administrative Examination (Finance and Economy track), and earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Missouri, USA.

He entered public service and worked for about 28 years in the Blue House, Ministry of Strategy and Finance, and as Vice Governor of Jeollanam-do. While working at the Blue House and Ministry of Strategy and Finance, he made significant contributions to public institution reform and regional balanced development, earning recognition as a competent economic and budget policy expert.

As the first political Vice Governor of the 7th local government, he formed ties with Jeonnam Province, overseeing the economy, industry, and job sectors, changing the industrial map of Jeonnam’s economy. Currently, he is a visiting professor at the Global Leadership Department of Sungkyunkwan University and serves as the vice chairman of the Policy Committee of the Democratic Party Central Party.
