Blue House, Emergency NSC Standing Committee Meeting Held... 15th Military Demonstration

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun]The Blue House convened an emergency meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) Standing Committee regarding North Korea's launch of a projectile into the East Sea on the 7th. The meeting is chaired by National Security Office Director Suh Hoon.

With only three days until President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol's inauguration and 16 days before the South Korea-U.S. summit, North Korea's provocation is being taken even more seriously.

The Blue House is expected to announce the discussion outcomes after the meeting concludes.

Earlier, the Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that North Korea fired a projectile of an unidentified type into the East Sea in the afternoon.

Military authorities are analyzing specifications such as the missile's range and altitude and are believed to estimate it as a ballistic missile.

This launch comes three days after North Korea fired one ballistic missile, presumed to be an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), into the East Sea from the Sunan area of Pyongyang at 12:03 PM on the 4th, marking the 15th show of force publicly revealed this year.
