[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] On the 5th, President Moon Jae-in invited about 90 children to the Blue House to celebrate his last Children's Day during his term. It was the first time in three years that President Moon personally met children at the Blue House to mark Children's Day.

About 90 students from remote branch schools, including Usan Branch of Dongyi Elementary School in Chungbuk, Bongsu Branch of Burim Elementary School in Gyeongnam, Donghwa Branch of Beonam Elementary School in Jeonbuk, and Yongjeon Branch of Masan Elementary School in Jeonnam, were invited to the event.

Students from Cheongpa Branch of Cheongpa Elementary School in Chungnam and Doseong Elementary School in Gangwon, who had promised to be invited to the Blue House at last year's non-face-to-face Digital Korea event and the 99th Children's Day event, also visited the Blue House.

Among them, considering the difficult transportation conditions to the Nokdo Branch, the students traveled by helicopter with the cooperation of the Presidential Security Service and the Air Force Headquarters.

Among the elementary school students who visited the Blue House were students from Punggak Elementary School in Cheongdo-gun, Gyeongbuk, who celebrated both the 100th Children's Day and the 100th anniversary of their school's founding.

The children had lunch at the State Guest House, experienced the presidential security vehicle, and met President Moon and his wife at Nokjiwon.

President Moon said, "You are the last children to spend Children's Day at Nokjiwon," and added, "Please cherish the special memories of spending Children's Day with the President Grandpa and Grandma." He also said, "Because of COVID-19, you couldn't go on picnics or have sports days, but today, since the children are the main characters, you should run and play to your heart's content."

President Moon then played games such as paper flipping, big ball flipping, and throwing balls into baskets with the children, divided into the Blue Team and the White Team.

President Moon gave the children attending the event a Blue House souvenir set, including a personally signed picture book "Summer is Coming" by author Lee Su-ji, who recently won the Hans Christian Andersen Award, known as the 'Nobel Prize of children's literature,' along with stationery.
