Eunpyeong-gu Promotes 'Clean Home Care for Mobility-Impaired Single-Person Households'

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Eunpyeong-gu is promoting the ‘Single-Person Household Clean Home Care Project’ targeting single-person households with poor residential environments.

Twenty-two single-person households who have difficulty improving their living environment due to mobility issues, lack of family ties, depression, etc., will be selected to receive cleaning, waste disposal, and disinfection services. This project was selected in the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s single-person household contest.

The district will provide the three services of cleaning the living space, waste disposal, and disinfection once to the selected recipients. By collaborating with professional cleaning and disinfection companies, the project aims to improve unsanitary living conditions that have not been cleaned or organized for a long time.

Additionally, follow-up management will be conducted to provide customized services by linking with local specialized institutions for households requiring psychological counseling, medical support, and other assistance. The district plans to provide high-quality services so that single-person households can live healthily in a pleasant residential environment.

Recipients will be recommended through related organizations such as community service centers and welfare facilities by the 13th of this month. Afterward, a selection committee will choose the recipients, and starting in June, professional companies will provide on-site services to the selected single-person households.

A district official stated, "Due to the pandemic, depression has increased and social networks have weakened, leading to increased social isolation among vulnerable single-person households. We hope this project will raise awareness of single-person households with poor residential environments." He added, "We will continue to take the lead in preparing support measures so that single-person households can live healthily in a pleasant residential environment."
