Offline Festival Bringing Single-Parent Families Together for the First Time in 3 Years Since COVID-19 Spread
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 10th, Seoul City announced that it will hold the "All Together One Festival 'We, Together'," a platform to improve awareness of single-parent families, as an online and offline event for 25 days starting from May 7, in celebration of Single-Parent Family Day.
First, the offline event marking the start of the festival on the 7th will feature awards for meritorious single-parent family members who have contributed to supporting single-parent families, a commemorative performance for Single-Parent Family Day, awareness improvement campaigns, and various enjoyable events. About 250 people, including single-parent families, are expected to participate.
Additionally, single-parent families who are concerned about child-rearing can enjoy a talk concert by cognitive psychology expert Professor Kim Kyung-il, where they can learn effective methods to enhance their children's self-esteem and know-how on child education.
The online festival campaign, running for 25 days until the end of May, will carry out "Everyone's Proud of Our Mom and Dad & Self-Pat," and "Cheering for Today That Runs Again" to encourage and empower everyone exhausted by COVID-19. It is designed for all kinds of families and citizens to participate, show interest in single-parent families, and deliver messages of love and support.
As a side event of the online festival, participants can join the "Daily Blank Event," which can be entered once a day, and "I Am the Star of the Festival!" where individuals can post their own anniversaries, job success, birthdays, or other celebrations, and citizens can empathize and encourage each other through personal SNS.
Kim Sun-soon, Director of the Women and Family Policy Office, said, "This year, with the easing of social distancing, we planned the single-parent family festival utilizing both online and offline formats," adding, "We hope that single-parent families and citizens participating in the festival after a long time can forget their difficult daily lives, enjoy themselves, and that it becomes a platform to recognize diverse family forms and improve awareness."
