[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Junho] A man in his 50s who habitually caused disturbances while intoxicated, including damaging vehicles, has finally been arrested.
The Gwangju Bukbu Police Station announced on the 4th that they have arrested a man in his 50s, identified as A, on charges including damage to special public property, special property damage, and attempted arson.
A is accused of repeatedly breaking parked vehicles and the glass window of the district office duty room, as well as causing habitual drunken disturbances such as drinking whiskey at bars without paying.
In a state of heavy intoxication, A struck parked vehicles with a sledgehammer, damaging side mirrors and the driver's door, causing damage to parked vehicles on three separate occasions.
Last month, frustrated that his civil complaints were not addressed, he went to the Gwangju Buk-gu Office at night and caused a disturbance, even throwing stones that broke the duty room's glass window.
He also attempted to set fire to a building by igniting packaging materials in front of a store in Buk-gu, but the attempt was unsuccessful.
In March, the police applied for an arrest warrant for A, who had repeatedly committed property damage and damage to public buildings, but the court dismissed the request.
While released without detention, A continued to damage vehicles and committed additional offenses such as drinking whiskey worth approximately 250,000 won at a bar without paying.
Consequently, the police combined the cases involving A and reapplied for a pre-arrest warrant, which was then issued.
