[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] "Is there anything special for this Children's Day?"
As this year marks the 100th anniversary of Children's Day, the food industry has stepped up to offer both fun and meaningful experiences through various events and promotions.
According to the confectionery industry on the 4th, Orion launched an online-exclusive limited edition "Dinosaur Transformation Play Gift Set" ahead of Children's Day. This product, featuring a dinosaur-shaped package containing 10 types of snacks such as Kkobuk Chip, Choco Song-i, and Whale Snack, is designed to be transformed into a dinosaur toy using the included sticker pack and box packaging, enhancing its usability. Crown Confectionery also introduced five snack gift sets containing biscuits and candies like My Chew and Big Pie, packed in backpacks illustrated with animal characters such as bees and turtles. Priced under 10,000 won, these sets offer a variety of sizes and characters to choose from, broadening the selection.
With social distancing lifted and the season for outdoor activities fully underway, some companies have focused on providing enjoyable experiences through various hands-on activities. Maeil Dairies is hosting a "Children's Village" event at Sangha Farm, a rural experiential theme park. Participants in the signature program "Little Farmer Jam Jam Package" can experience farming activities such as planting corn seedlings, weed-pulling contests, and drawing competitions. Prizes including accommodation vouchers are also offered to participants. A representative from Sangha Farm said, "It will be a great experience for children and parents to bond while connecting with nature."
Some companies are focusing on social contributions in honor of the 100th anniversary of Children's Day. SPC Group is conducting the "SPC Happy Share Campaign" in collaboration with the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation to support children without guardians. When customers leave supportive comments or share stories introduced on the Happy Point application, the SPC Happy Foundation donates a certain amount. Nongshim donated 600 gift sets consisting of snacks and beverages to the Korea Leukemia Children's Foundation to support children with leukemia and pediatric cancer.
