[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] The National Assembly's Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting and Communications Committee adopted the confirmation hearing report for Lee Jong-ho, the nominee for Minister of Science and ICT, on the 3rd.
On the same day, the ruling and opposition committee members held a confirmation hearing to verify the nominee's morality and qualifications, and immediately after the hearing concluded, they agreed to adopt the confirmation hearing report for the nominee.
Democratic Party committee members questioned the nominee about the process of receiving semiconductor development patent fees, the holding of convertible bonds (CB) in a semiconductor company for telecommunications, and the delayed payment of gift tax by the spouse, while People Power Party committee members expressed the opinion that the nominee is the right person to serve as Minister of Science and ICT based on his expertise.
Committee Chair Lee Won-wook confirmed that there were no objections to the adoption of the report and declared its approval.
According to the Confirmation Hearing Act, once the committee chair reports the confirmation hearing result report to the plenary session, the Speaker of the National Assembly must forward it to the President or the President-elect.
