[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] KMI Korea Medical Institute officially created and unveiled its mascot character 'Kumi (kmi)' on the 3rd.
Kumi was named based on the sound of pronouncing the acronym KMI, derived from the English name Korea Medical Institute, in Korean.
Created using various keywords associated with the KMI health checkup brand and its sound, Kumi reflects images such as softness (creamy), protector (health checkup), and heart (warmth).
The face shape depicts cotton, with a medical symbol and heart shape on the head, and a cape symbolizing health protection, emphasizing KMI's brand philosophy as a health checkup institution friendly to examinees, contributing to disease prevention and early detection.
KMI plans to use Kumi to provide various online and offline content including health information, and also for social contribution projects and activities to promote public health.
A KMI External Cooperation Office official said, “We will strive to deliver the importance of regular health checkups to the public in a familiar way with Kumi and approach health checkup examinees with a more friendly image.”
KMI Korea Medical Institute, established in 1985 as a health checkup institution, currently operates health checkup centers in seven locations nationwide: three in Seoul (Gwanghwamun, Yeouido, Gangnam) and four regional centers (Suwon, Daegu, Busan, Gwangju).
