The Uigyeon Cultural Festival is being held for the first time in three years due to COVID-19, and it is expected to be a meaningful event symbolizing a return to normal life.
This event features various programs such as a pet fashion show reminiscent of a film festival where pets can showcase style and personality, a pet talk show to answer curiosities, a pet industry expo where various pet products can be found, and various pet experience events.
Singers Gilgun, Ryang Hyun Ryang Ha, Harisu, Ahn Hyekyung, Seo Dongju, and Hyun Jin-young will walk the runway with their pets in the pet fashion show.
The opening celebration performances will feature Yuk Joongwan Band, Gilgu Bonggu, Young-gi, Kim Eui-young, Majors, and Park Jindo to celebrate the Uigyeon Cultural Festival.
The pet talk show will invite CEO Kang Hyung-wook, known as the “Dog President,” and Professor Lee Woongjong, who are expected to resolve the curiosities of pet families.
In addition, more than 20 pet industry product companies will participate, offering a variety of products for purchase, and various programs such as pet play programs, free grooming, and health checkups will be prepared.
Park Segeun, chairman of the Uigyeon Cultural Festival Committee, said, “As this is the first festival in three years, I hope many residents and tourists will create good memories with their pets at the Uigyeon Cultural Festival.”
Kang Younggu, director of the Culture and Sports Department, said, “Unlike previous events, this year we specially prepared a pet fashion show, pet talk show, and pet industry expo,” adding, “We will do our best to establish the Uigyeon Cultural Festival as a representative pet festival.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Uigyeon Cultural Festival’ began in 1982 to commemorate the spirit of gratitude of Osu Dog, who saved its drunken owner with its own body. It has grown beyond the scope of ‘Uigyeon’ into a cultural festival that provides a place for harmony between pets and pet families by promoting pet welfare and improving awareness.
