[Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] The Private School Teachers' Pension Service (hereinafter referred to as PSTPS) announced on the 2nd that it held the 2nd ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Management Committee meeting at the Federation of Korean Industries building in Yeouido, Seoul, on the 29th of last month.

PSTPS established the ESG Management Committee in October last year and held the 1st ESG Management Committee meeting in December of the same year.

At the 1st committee meeting, Professor Lee Jae-hyuk of Korea University, who served as co-chairman of the International ESG Association, was appointed as the chairman, and the mid- to long-term roadmap for ESG management was reviewed and approved.

At this 2nd ESG Management Committee meeting, the 2021 ESG promotion performance of PSTPS was reviewed, and the 2022 ESG management promotion plans, including ESG investments of the pension fund, were examined and discussed.

Under the chairmanship of Chairman Lee Jae-hyuk, who was in charge of developing the 'K-ESG Guidelines' disclosed by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the committee members also had an in-depth discussion on PSTPS's ESG response direction in line with the changing management environment, including the launch of the new government.

Chairman Lee Jae-hyuk said, "ESG is not a new concept that suddenly appeared one day, and environment, society, and governance are interrelated," adding, "Based on an accurate understanding of ESG, a systematic approach is needed to reflect ESG in the institution's management activities from the planning stage of projects through the implementation process, considering decision-making and core competencies. We will actively strive to enable PSTPS to fully promote ESG."
