The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced that on the 2nd, Head Choi visited Yonghwasa Temple in Gimpo City to inspect firefighting equipment and provide fire safety consulting.
The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters will enter special alert duty targeting major temples from 6 p.m. on the 7th, the day before Buddha’s Birthday, until 9 a.m. on the 9th.
Earlier, from April 18 to 29, the headquarters conducted a special fire inspection and on-site safety consulting by fire station chiefs at major traditional temples in the province to check the operation of firefighting facilities.
Choi Byung-il, head of the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters, said, "We will not lower our guard even for a moment in disaster response by deploying firefighting forces forward and maintaining the highest level of initial accident response readiness," and urged, "Temples should be especially careful when using fire sources such as candles, electricity, and gas."
