100ha Developed for Agro-Bio Land in Saemangeum... Jeonbuk Anticipates Leap as the Leading Agricultural Machinery Industry Hub
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonbuk Province announced on the 2nd that the "Intelligent Agricultural Machinery Demonstration Complex Construction Project," aimed at establishing a growth foundation for the domestic agricultural machinery industry, has passed the preliminary feasibility study by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, securing its feasibility.
The intelligent agricultural machinery demonstration complex, to be established on a 100-hectare scale in the Advanced Agricultural Testing Complex in Saemangeum Agricultural Life Zone Block 5, is the largest domestic testing and evaluation space where the performance and safety of intelligent agricultural machinery can be demonstrated for a certain period before commercialization.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs included the plan to build the intelligent agricultural machinery demonstration complex in the 8th Basic Plan for Agricultural Mechanization (2017) and the implementation plan (2020), with the goal of "developing agricultural machinery in preparation for the 4th Industrial Revolution and promoting the production and export of high-quality agricultural machinery."
This demonstration complex construction signifies policy support for the agricultural machinery industry from the perspective of a national strategic industry, and it is expected to serve as a foundation to secure advanced technological capabilities of the domestic agricultural machinery industry through technology development linked to the 4th Industrial Revolution, such as autonomous driving, artificial intelligence, and big data utilization.
In particular, it is expected to transform the agricultural machinery industry into a national export powerhouse while creating new jobs and revitalizing the regional economy in Jeonbuk.
Additionally, during the construction period, 763 jobs will be created, and from 2027, when full-scale operation begins, 1,710 new jobs will be generated. The production inducement effect within the province is predicted to reach 54.5 billion KRW (95.2 billion KRW nationwide), and the value-added inducement effect is expected to be 24.3 billion KRW (37.8 billion KRW nationwide).
