[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] The duty-free industry is holding various events in line with the resumption of overseas travel.
According to the industry on the 1st, Shinsegae Duty Free will carry out a major store renewal following the reorganization of its beauty stores.
First, it will reopen popular duty-free categories such as electronics, character goods, and food stores that had been closed for the past two years. The stores will be newly organized with characters like ‘Pororo’ and ‘Kakao Friends’, along with food and health functional foods.
In electronics, the latest products from well-known domestic and international electronics companies such as Samsung Electronics, Philips, and Panasonic will be showcased.
A new corner selling popular perfume products and ‘K-Beauty’ items will also be newly placed on the 11th floor. Additionally, curated stores featuring the French niche perfume brand ‘Atelier des Ors’, the Spanish luxury brand ‘Loewe’ perfumes, and domestic beauty brands such as ‘Dr. Jart+’ and ‘Blanc Diva’ will be introduced.
To celebrate Family Month in May, Shinsegae Duty Free has prepared an event where customers can purchase newly introduced baby and health functional food brands at reasonable prices. From the 2nd to the 15th, covering Children’s Day and Parents’ Day, three types of additional reward points will be given based on purchase amounts. This applies to a total of 19 brand products including baby brands like ‘Pororo’, ‘Primaju’, and ‘Gungjungbichek’, as well as health supplements like ‘Cenovis’ and ‘GNC’.
Lotte Duty Free is partnering with Korea Seven, the operator of 7-Eleven, to sell duty-free goods cleared for domestic customs.
Considering that about 60% of 7-Eleven app members are in their 20s and 30s, Lotte Duty Free’s strategy is to expand the sales channel for duty-free goods cleared for domestic customs to convenience stores to target the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z), who are emerging as major luxury consumers.
Starting from the 2nd, the Lotte Duty Free domestic customs clearance duty-free goods exclusive section will open on the 7-Eleven app, selling bags, shoes, wallets, and more from six global luxury brands including Bally, Tory Burch, Marc Jacobs, and Coach at up to 50% off the regular price. All products are domestic customs clearance duty-free goods that can be purchased without leaving the country and will be delivered to the entered shipping address within 2-3 days.
To commemorate the opening, a ‘One Plus One (1+1)’ event will also be held, where customers can receive two items for the price of one. For four weeks starting from the first week of May, customers who purchase event products on a first-come, first-served basis each week will receive one additional identical product. The first week features Marc Jacobs bags, followed by Tory Burch bags and card wallets in weeks 2 to 4.
Shilla Duty Free is conducting a prize draw event offering up to 1 million S Rewards points (equivalent to approximately 1.2 million KRW) to purchasing customers, along with giveaways of premium cosmetic samples, eco bags, and coffee gifticons.
