Electric Bicycle Battery Explodes During Charging... 60-Year-Old Resident Suffers Burns

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] An accident occurred in an apartment in Songpa-gu, Seoul, where a battery exploded while charging an electric bicycle battery, injuring one person.

According to the fire authorities on the 30th, a report was received at around 8:49 a.m. that an electric bicycle battery exploded and caught fire while charging in a 30th-floor apartment in Pungnap-dong, Songpa-gu.

The flames were extinguished in about 20 minutes by a man in his 60s living in the house, but he suffered second-degree burns on his lower body, including his calves, while putting out the fire and was transported to the hospital.

The police and fire department are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
