Yongsan-gu and Qui Nhon City Celebrate 26th Anniversary of Friendship Cooperation with Hanok Pavilion 'Hyeongjejeong' Completion Ceremony in Qui Nhon City, Vietnam on the 26th... 30-Minute Event Includes Progress Report, Plaque Ceremony, and Commemorative Photo Session
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seongjang Hyun) held the 26th anniversary exchange ceremony and the completion ceremony of the Hanok pavilion ‘Hyeongjejeong’ in Quy Nhon City, Vietnam.
This was to strengthen national external competitiveness at the local government level.
The 26th anniversary exchange ceremony and the Hanok pavilion completion ceremony were held over two days on the 25th and 26th.
About 20 key figures including Seongjang Hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, Secretary of Binh Dinh Province, Governor of Binh Dinh Province, Deputy Governor of Binh Dinh Province, Secretary of Quy Nhon City, Deputy Secretary of Quy Nhon City, Mayor of Quy Nhon, and the President of the Hanoi Korean Association, as well as about 100 residents attended the ceremony.
At the ceremony held on the 25th, Seongjang Hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, received a letter of appreciation from the Governor of Binh Dinh Province. This recognized his contributions to exchange projects such as excellent student exchanges and support for the establishment of a cataract treatment center.
The completion ceremony of the Hanok pavilion ‘Hyeongjejeong’ on the 26th proceeded with a tape-cutting, plaque unveiling, and commemorative photo session. ‘Hyeongjejeong’ means ‘the long friendship between Quy Nhon City and Yongsan is like that of brothers.’
The district planned the project to build a Hanok pavilion in Quy Nhon City, Vietnam, to spread Korean culture, and signed an agreement with Jeonbuk National University in 2020. In 2021, Hyosung Heavy Industries donated 200 million KRW as a construction fund, and the project was launched in earnest.
The Hanok pavilion is located in the An Phu Ting New City (International Trade Zone) with an area of 200㎡. Quy Nhon City provided the construction site and foundation construction materials.
Quy Nhon City is the capital of Binh Dinh Province in central Vietnam and a rising international tourist city. ‘Hyeongjejeong,’ which was a hot topic among Quy Nhon citizens even before its construction, is expected to become a major attraction in Vietnam.
Seongjang Hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “I thank everyone who worked together despite the difficulties caused by COVID-19,” and added, “Along with Hyeongjejeong, the promotional center to be built will become a hub for spreading Korean culture throughout Vietnam.”
He also added, “Yongsan-gu will continue to faithfully fulfill the role of local government diplomacy through economic and cultural exchanges with Quy Nhon City.”
Since 2016, the district has been leading the spread of Korean language and culture through the operation of the Quy Nhon Sejong Institute in Quy Nhon City. The institute graduates 300 Korean language course students annually. This year, it signed an educational cooperation agreement with Quy Nhon University and will open a Korean language department at Quy Nhon University in September.
