Former Suncheon Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu, Everything Is His Own Way, Does He Think Citizens Are Fools?

Assemblyman Sobyeongcheol Explains Democratic Party Nomination Results... Considering One-on-One Debate

[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] On the 29th, when the Democratic Party's Suncheon mayoral candidate opinion poll was in full swing, a clash occurred on SNS between National Assembly member So Byung-chul (Suncheon, Gwangyang, Gokseong, Gurye Gap) and former Suncheon Mayor Noh Kwan-gyu, drawing attention.

As voices of dissatisfaction regarding the Democratic Party primaries for the Suncheon mayoral race and city and provincial council members erupted here and there, Assemblyman So Byung-chul, aware of this, announced via his Facebook and text messages to some journalists that he is considering a public debate plan.

Assemblyman So said, "It is regrettable and frustrating that words are being made and conflicts are arising over the nomination process and results," adding, "If the parties involved want an explanation about the nomination process and results, and if the citizens also wish so, I plan to request materials from the Jeonnam Provincial Party as soon as the election concludes and consider a 1-on-1 public debate with me so that citizens can make a judgment."

So attached the condition, "Let us prepare official legal measures to prevent defamation risks such as negative reputations or disclosure of private life to candidates, and hold a public debate together with some journalists."

In response, former Suncheon Mayor Noh Kwan-gyu also posted on Facebook, "Assemblyman So Byung-chul talks about the honor of those who lost the nomination and 1-on-1 debates or whatever. This person seems to do everything his own way and thinks citizens are fools," adding, "It must have been quite a thrill to bypass candidates who prepared for a long time and appoint aides. It seems like you twisted your words on Facebook referring to me, so just speak honestly."

He continued, "There have been so many words and promises poured out by Assemblyman So that it seems he is busy trying to take them back," expressing a strong reaction.

Citizen A said, "This primary has been the most talked about and problematic ever. I hope they hold a public debate and provide a convincing explanation."
