Gwangju Seo-gu Holds Ceremony for the 28th Seo-gu Residents' Day

Gwangju Seo-gu Holds Ceremony for the 28th Seo-gu Residents' Day

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it held the 28th 'Seo-gu Residents' Day' commemorative ceremony on the 29th in celebration of Seo-gu Residents' Day on the 1st of next month.

Considering the upcoming 8th nationwide simultaneous local elections this year, the event minimized the number of attendees to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Unlike previous years, when the event was held in conjunction with festivals such as harmony and sharing festivals, this year it was conducted as a modest ceremony focused solely on the commemorative event.

The ceremony began with a pre-ceremony string quartet cultural performance, followed by the national anthem, introduction of guests, and reading of the Residents' Charter. The Seo-gu Residents' Award was presented to unsung heroes who contributed to community harmony and regional development.

The Seo-gu Residents' Award honored a total of five recipients: Lee Kyung-hwi (69, female) and Lee Jeong-hee (68, female) in the social and volunteer service category; Jeong Hee-man (61, male) in the beautiful city development category; Jeon Ja-kwang (59, male) in the education, culture, and sports category; and Park Chan-gap (66, male) in the regional and economic category.

A Seo-gu official stated, "We hope that Residents' Day will serve as an opportunity to promote harmony among the 300,000 residents and foster greater development of Seo-gu."
