According to the county on the 29th, this festival will feature various events such as 'Find the Clam King,' 'Special Clam Sale,' and 'Free Food Tasting by Experts.'
Hosted by the Hajun Fishing Cooperative of Gochang County, this festival offers a mudflat experience where visitors can dig for clams, and gifts will be given to tourists who find the largest clam.
There are various programs to attract people of all ages, including free clam giveaways and catching Pungcheon eels.
During the festival, a direct transaction market will be operated to allow visitors to purchase Gochang Hajun clams, which grow in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve clean mudflats and boast the highest quality, at prices more than 30% cheaper than the market price.
Various clam dishes such as 'Clam Kalguksu (knife-cut noodles),' 'Hoe Muchim (spicy raw fish salad),' 'Bibimbap,' 'Jeon (Korean pancakes),' and 'Seafood Ramen' will also be showcased.
Kwon Youngju, head of the Hajun Fishing Cooperative, said, "Clams are plump and at their most delicious around this time, so we hope families come to the 'Gochang Clam Festival' to enjoy Gochang's premium seafood rich in taste and nutrition and have a meaningful May, the month of family."
