Containing 3 Core Principles and 5 Execution Principles

KCC Publishes Guidebook on User Protection Principles for AI-Based Media Recommendations

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The Korea Communications Commission and the Korea Information Society Development Institute announced on the 28th that they have published a commentary containing detailed explanations of each item in the "Basic Principles for the Protection of Users of AI-based Media Recommendation Services," which was announced in June last year.

As a self-regulatory principle to protect the rights and interests of users of AI-based recommendation services, transparency, fairness, and accountability were presented as the three core principles. The five implementation principles are ▲ disclosure of information for users ▲ guarantee of users' right to choose ▲ execution of self-verification ▲ handling of complaints and dispute resolution ▲ establishment of internal rules.

The commentary includes explanations of the purpose and main content of each individual item, as well as reference cases such as domestic and international laws, guidelines, and policies.

The KCC plans to post the commentary on its website, distribute it to related businesses, and recommend voluntary compliance. Within the year, they also plan to prepare implementation guidelines that include specific measures, application cases, and precautions related to the five implementation principles.
