Smart Agricultural and Life Convergence Industry Development, Momentum Expected in Phase 2 Project
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonbuk Province announced on the 28th that it received a ‘Very Excellent’ rating in the ’21 National Innovation Cluster Development Project Evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology targeting 14 metropolitan local governments nationwide.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy conducts an annual evaluation at the end of each year to assess commercialization performance, network operation, and corporate support achievements over the past year, using this as basic data necessary for the direction of the project in the following year.
In this evaluation, Jeonbuk Province was recognized for major achievements such as ▲winning national R&D projects (attracting the Green Bio Venture Campus with 23.1 billion KRW in national funding) ▲signing overseas export contracts (between Seowoo MS (Jeonju) and an Indian company, worth 4 billion KRW).
Additionally, it achieved results including ▲attracting companies to the cluster (6 companies, investment amount of 118.3 billion KRW) ▲export of excellent products and technologies (13 cases, 11.185 billion KRW) ▲sales and employment creation by beneficiary companies (sales of 26.5 billion KRW, employment of 150 people).
As a result, the development of Jeollabuk-do’s specialized industry, the smart agro-life convergence industry, and the promotion of the cluster’s first phase project (2018?2022) have gained momentum for the follow-up second phase project (2023?2027) currently being prepared.
Meanwhile, the National Innovation Cluster project is a national policy project started in 2018 for balanced national development, where 14 cities and provinces nationwide have been striving to foster upstream and downstream industries through new technology development, company attraction, network establishment and operation, and corporate support considering regional characteristics.
In the case of Jeonbuk, the smart agro-life convergence industry (agricultural machinery, digital agriculture systems), its main industry, was selected as a specialized industry, and the project is being promoted centered on 21 industrial complex districts within a 40 km radius including the innovation city.
