[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] A complex facility combining public offices, officetels, and retail facilities will be built on the site of Taepyeong Department Store located in Sadang-dong, Dongjak-gu, Seoul. In the area around Suyu Station in Gangbuk-gu, the Gangbuk District Office, sports facilities, and a living culture center will be constructed.
On the 28th, Seoul City announced that it held the '6th Urban Architecture Joint Committee' the day before and approved the modification of the Sadang Isu District Unit Plan Decision (Change) (Draft) and the Isu 3 Special Planning Zone Designation Detailed Development Plan Decision (Draft).
The target site is land adjacent to the Isu Station station area where subway lines 4 and 7 intersect, and includes plans to develop the site of the Taepyeong Department Store, built in 1992, into a complex space.
Through the designation of the Isu 3 Special Planning Zone, the city plans to revitalize the Isu station area by integrating retail facilities (12,921㎡), public offices (7,279㎡), and 188 officetel units. As a public contribution according to the market complexification, the public office will be designated as an urban planning facility, and within the office, Sadang 2-dong Community Center, Kiwoom Center, and Village Vitality Center will be established.
At the same time, the city also approved modifications to the Suyu-Beondong District Unit Plan Zone and plan decision (change) (draft) in the Suyu-dong area of Gangbuk-gu. The site includes Suyu Station on Line 4 and is an area with a high concentration of commercial districts such as the Gangbuk District Office and Suyu Food Alley.
The city will newly designate this area as a special planning zone for the construction of the Gangbuk District Office, sports facilities, living culture center, and other ancillary facilities. Additionally, plans were established to lift existing special planning zones to induce redevelopment in the back streets and to prepare conditions for autonomous development, as well as joint development incentives.
