Prosecutor, a 'Yoon Seok-yeol Peer' Who Drew Out Roh Moo-hyun Saying "You Want to Fight?", Became POSCO Legal Team Leader

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chae-seok] It has been confirmed that POSCO Holdings has appointed Kim Young-jong, head lawyer of Homin Law Office, as the head of the legal team (Vice President).

POSCO Holdings stated on the 27th, "Since the holding company was launched last March, the position of head of the legal team has been vacant, and after receiving multiple recommendations from outside, we recruited Lawyer Kim," adding, "He will start working from next month."

Lawyer Kim is the 33rd pass of the Judicial Examination and was a classmate of President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol in the exam. He was appointed as a prosecutor and served at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, the Crime Information Planning Office of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, and as head of the Anyang branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office.

He is well known for asking a question during the "Dialogue with Prosecutors" held one month after former President Roh Moo-hyun's inauguration in 2003: "Have you ever made a phone call to the prosecution to request a favor?" To this, former President Roh replied, "At this point, you want to go all out, right?"

Lawyer Kim started his legal practice in 2017 when the Moon Jae-in administration took office.

A POSCO Holdings official said, "The person in charge of legal affairs has always been recruited from outside," and added, "We expect him to play a significant role in group-level legal support and compliance adherence."
