[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Namdong-gu, Incheon, is operating the 'Hangeul Love Observation Evaluation Team,' where citizens directly inspect and propose improvements on the use of public language by administrative agencies.

On the 27th, the district delivered appointment letters to 10 citizens who will serve as members of the Hangeul Love Observation Evaluation Team and conducted training on future operational methods.

Since last year, the district has been carrying out various projects to change the difficult and rigid public language used by administrative agencies into easy language that matches the citizens' perspective.

The Hangeul Love Observation Evaluation Team is responsible for creating an environment for the use of easy and correct public language through regular monitoring by administrative field.

The citizens appointed as evaluation team members are all experienced in civic group activities for many years and were recommended by Incheon YMCA, which previously signed a public-private business agreement with Namdong-gu. Their term is one year, and a fixed activity expense is provided.

The Observation Evaluation Team monitors public language in their assigned fields such as the homepage, SNS, original information, and daily life sectors, and submits monthly activity reports.

After reviewing the reports, the district requests proofreading from the Inha University Korean Language and Culture Center, and once proofreading is completed, the improved expressions are notified to the evaluation team members and recommended for improvement to each department.

Lee Kang-ho, Mayor of Namdong-gu, said, "The operation of the Hangeul Love Observation Evaluation Team is the project that best demonstrates the purpose of using public language correctly according to residents' perspectives," and added, "We will ensure that the improved expressions are continuously and widely used."
