Ministry of Foreign Affairs "Protested Japan's Precise Measurement Plan for Dokdo, Rejected Through Diplomatic Channels"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] Regarding the Japanese government's protest against our government's plan for precise measurement of Dokdo, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on the 27th that "the unjust claims by the Japanese side were rejected through diplomatic channels."

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "Dokdo is clearly our inherent territory historically, geographically, and under international law, and we cannot accept any unjust claims by the Japanese side regarding our territorial sovereignty."

The Sankei Shimbun reported on the 27th, citing Japanese government officials, that the Japanese government protested through diplomatic channels against the South Korean government's plan for precise surveying of Dokdo.

According to the report, the South Korean government plans to use unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) to conduct precise surveys of Dokdo's terrain and surrounding waters.

In response, the Japanese government protested through diplomatic channels and also requested suspension from the Korea-Japan Policy Consultation Delegation dispatched to Japan by President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol, Sankei reported.

It was said that the protest and request for suspension were made to Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials accompanying the Policy Consultation Delegation.

Regarding this, the Policy Consultation Delegation officially stated, "We have not received any protests related to Dokdo at the delegation level."

The Japanese government continues to assert unjust territorial claims over Dokdo and protests whenever prominent Korean figures visit Dokdo or the South Korean military conducts training for Dokdo's defense.
