KOTRA "Helping Local Talent Get Jobs at 3M and Zara Through Metaverse"

Participation of 22 Companies with Hiring Demand

KOTRA "Helping Local Talent Get Jobs at 3M and Zara Through Metaverse"

[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-ho Kim] KOTRA announced on the 27th that it will hold a ‘Regional Foreign-Invested Companies Recruitment Fair’ on the metaverse to help university student job seekers located outside Seoul find employment at foreign-invested companies (hereafter, foreign-invested companies).

This event was planned to support talented individuals from provincial areas who find it difficult to obtain information necessary for employment at foreign-invested companies and to promote recruitment by foreign-invested companies aiming to secure an excellent pool of local talent. Given that foreign-invested companies conduct recruitment on an ongoing basis, the latest hiring news is important. Provincial job seekers are expected to be able to directly ask questions to recruitment officers and resolve their concerns through this event.

The fair will be held once in each of three regions: the Southeast region (April 29), Incheon (May 11), and the Chungcheong region (May 18). The universities in charge of each region (▲Southeast region: Pukyong National University, Pusan National University ▲Incheon: Inha University, Incheon Global Campus ▲Chungcheong region: Dankook University, Chungnam National University, Chungbuk National University) will be responsible for recruiting job seekers. However, even if they are not students of the host universities, university student job seekers from the event’s regional area can all participate.

Twenty-two foreign-invested companies, including 3M, Applied Materials, and ZARA, which have established plans to hire about 400 people in the first half of the year, will participate. In addition to 10 companies in manufacturing, production, and R&D fields and 8 companies in the service industry, companies from 5 industrial sectors including IT and telecommunications, and medical and pharmaceutical industries will be looking for talent in various job categories.

This fair will be conducted on the metaverse platform Gather Town. Job seekers can connect and participate from a comfortable location. Participants will experience programs such as each company’s recruitment briefing session, one-on-one recruitment consultations with HR managers, and special lectures on employment at foreign companies by current employees within the metaverse.

Jang Sang-hyun, CEO of KOTRA Invest Korea, said, “About 20% of all foreign-invested companies are located in the regions where this fair will be held,” and added, “We will continue to promote projects that provide excellent foreign-invested company employment information to job seekers located outside the metropolitan area.”

Meanwhile, applications for participation can be made through the KOTRA Foreign-Invested Companies Recruitment Support Team blog.
