[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] The Korean Cultural Center New York announced on the 26th (local time) that it will co-host the K-pop special concert "Korea Gayoje" on July 10th at 7 PM at SummerStage, the main outdoor performance venue in Central Park, New York City, together with the New York City Parks Foundation.
Held to commemorate the 140th anniversary of Korea-US diplomatic relations, this gayoje will feature girl group "Brave Girls," boy group "Golden Child," and K-pop solo singer AleXa, born in Oklahoma, USA.
Brave Girls, performing in New York for the first time, have prepared not only their hit songs such as "Rollin," "Only Driving," "High Heel," and "Chimatbaram," which sparked a resurgence last year, but also special songs for global fans. Golden Child will showcase addictive music and precise choreography with songs like "DDARA" and "OASIS." AleXa recently attracted attention by participating as the only K-pop singer in NBC's "American Song Contest," advancing to the semifinals with her first competition song "Wonderland," which ranked first.
Now in its third year, Korea Gayoje is part of the official SummerStage program by the New York City Parks Foundation. First held in 1987, SummerStage is a representative outdoor performance festival in New York, offering various genres of music performances in parks throughout the city every year.
This year's Korea Gayoje is a free, first-come-first-served outdoor concert. Detailed information can be found on the Korean Cultural Center New York's website, Facebook, and Instagram.
Jo Yoonjeung, director of the Korean Cultural Center New York, said, "We planned a large-scale K-pop concert to meet the explosive demand for K-pop in New York and to further expand the local Hallyu fan base. We hope everyone enjoys the K-pop fever in New York this summer to the fullest."
