[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Shinsegae Department Store welcomes customers with various enjoyable activities in celebration of Family Month in May.
According to Shinsegae Department Store on the 27th, starting from the 29th, they will run a Family Month campaign under the theme "Every moment is a gift." They have prepared various events both online and offline, including a gift preference test, a mission bracelet event full of giveaways such as balloon headbands, and a sweet dessert popup.
From Children's Day on May 5th to Parents' Day on May 8th, Shinsegae Department Store has also prepared an experiential event called "Kids in Wonderland." Along with balloon headbands and sticker giveaways, customers can enjoy various contents at each store, such as claw machines, movie theater popcorn giveaways, clown balloons, caricatures, and character masks. Participation is possible by presenting the kids event bracelet, which can be obtained by successfully completing the "Find the Difference Game" mission held from the 2nd to the 5th of next month on the Shinsegae Department Store application (app). Successful completion of the game also offers chances to win meal and dessert discount coupons worth 5,000 KRW, micro kickboards, and Rescape accommodation vouchers.
From the 5th to the 15th of next month, Daejeon Shinsegae Art & Science will set up a theme park at Sky Park, where visitors can experience a mini train, mini electric cars, clown balloons, and a carousel. Presenting the event bracelet will provide discounts of 20% for the aquarium, 30% for Nexperium, 10% for Sports Monster, and 10% for the observatory.
They have also prepared content to enjoy online. Through the May issue catalog of Shinsegae Magazine within the Shinsegae Department Store app, customers can find Shinsegae’s recommended gifts for Family Month, categorized by person and price range, to share with their loved ones.
Next month, the department store app will introduce "The Stage" virtual store. It recreates the Shinsegae main building as a virtual space, allowing customers to view recommended gifts and product introductions by brand as if shopping in the department store. Some products can also be purchased contactlessly through SSG.com.
From the 28th of this month to the 29th of next month, a gift preference test will be conducted on the app. Targeting the MZ generation (Millennials + Gen Z), who are familiar with preference-based content such as MBTI, it will suggest gifts that suit the individual. Those who share their test results on social media with hashtags will receive prizes.
Shopping content is also abundant for Family Month. On the basement first floor of the Gangnam branch, Universal Studios products featuring Minions and Jurassic World characters will be showcased until the 8th of next month. Customers who spend 30,000 or 50,000 KRW will receive photo booth tickets and removable stickers, and a lucky box worth 80,000 to 130,000 KRW will be sold for 50,000 KRW. A standalone dessert popup event will also be held. "Yan Couvre," the most acclaimed dessert brand in Paris, will introduce the coconut mousse cake "Ensemble," topped with two small foxes, for the first time in Korea at the Shinsegae popup store on the 28th. The price is 26,500 KRW.
From the 4th to the 18th of next month, the Gangnam branch basement first floor event hall will host a popup for the project brand "Badblue." This hot street fashion brand among the MZ generation will offer a Badbear fragrance pack to 30 customers who spend over 100,000 KRW and a Badbear mini cushion to 15 customers who spend over 150,000 KRW. From the 6th to the 25th of next month, the 6th floor will feature a popup for "Fitsroy," a Supreme specialty resale shop.
The main branch and Daegu Shinsegae will offer up to 20% discounts on IQ Box toy products such as Playmobil starting from the 29th of this month. Gwangju Shinsegae and Gyeonggi branch will also showcase premium toys with discounts up to 60%.
Centum City branch will offer discounts on men's shirts at the 5th-floor event hall. From the 29th of this month to the 3rd of next month, Daks and Dupont will be available, and from the 4th to the 8th of next month, Renoma and Countess Mara will be offered at special prices. Daegu Shinsegae will hold a Daks discount event on the 2nd-floor void from the 29th of this month to the 4th of next month.
The baking YouTuber with 1.5 million subscribers, "Ari Kitchen," will start a popup event on the 28th and hold simultaneous online and offline events. On the evening of the 29th, at 8 PM, the Shinsegae Department Store app live commerce "Shinbaek Live" will propose dessert gifts to brighten Children's Day. They will sell online for the first time the "Dream Bear Chocolate," an experiential dessert that customers break open with a hammer, which was a huge hit at the previous popup store.
Lee Seonghwan, Executive Director of Sales Strategy at Shinsegae Department Store, said, "In celebration of Family Month in May, Shinsegae Department Store is welcoming customers with experiential content both online and offline. We will do our best to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for customers shopping for gifts as well as those going out for spring outings."
