People Power Party to Hold Primary Elections for Basic Local Government Heads in 13 Cities and Counties of Gyeongnam Starting from the 25th

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The People Power Party Gyeongnam Provincial Party Election Management Committee has announced the primary election schedule for selecting candidates for basic local government heads in Gyeongnam.

The primaries for candidates for Sacheon Mayor, Namhae County Governor, Gimhae Mayor, and Yangsan Mayor will be held from the 25th to the 26th, with results to be announced on the 27th.

In the Sacheon mayoral election, preliminary candidates Kang Hodong, Park Dongsik, Park Jeongyeol, Lee Wonseop, and Choi Sanghwa will compete; in the Namhae County Governor primary, preliminary candidates Go Wono, Moon Junhong, Park Youngil, and Lee Cheolho will compete; in the Gimhae mayoral election, preliminary candidates Kwon Tongil, Park Youngjin, Hong Taeyong, and Hwang Jeonwon will compete; and in the Yangsan mayoral election, preliminary candidates Na Dongyeon and Han Okmun will compete.

The primaries for candidates for Tongyeong, Miryang, Geoje mayors and Goseong, Haman, Changnyeong, Geochang, Hapcheon county governors will be held from the 26th to the 27th, with results expected on the 28th.

In the Tongyeong mayoral election, preliminary candidates Kang Geunsik, Kang Seokwoo, Kim Jongbu, Kim Taejong, Jeong Dongyoung, and Cheon Younggi will compete for the candidacy; Miryang mayor preliminary candidates are Park Ilho and Ahn Byunggu; Geoje mayoral election will be a three-way race among preliminary candidates Kim Beomjun, Park Jongwoo, and Jeong Yeonsong.

In the Goseong county governor election district, preliminary candidates Bae Sanggil, Lee Sanggeun, Ha Hakyeol, Heo Dongwon, and Hwang Bogil will compete; for Haman county governor, preliminary candidates are Jo Geunje and Lee Hakseok; in the Changnyeong county governor primary, candidates Kwon Yugwan, Kim Buyeong, and Kim Chunseok will compete; in the Geochang county governor election, candidates Gu Inmo and Choi Gibong will compete; and in the Hapcheon county governor primary, preliminary candidates Kim Yunchul and Kim Seongtae will compete.

Preliminary candidates for Sancheong county governor will enter the primary from the 27th to the 28th, with results announced on the 29th. Candidates include Noh Yongsu, Min Junsik, Park Woosik, Park Chanjeong, Bae Seonghan, Lee Seunghwa, and Lee Changhee in a multi-candidate contest.

Among the 18 basic local government head elections in Gyeongnam, candidates and primary schedules for Jinju Mayor, Hamyang County Governor, Hadong County Governor, and Uiryeong County Governor will be announced later. According to the People Power Party’s party constitution and regulations, the primary will reflect 50% party member votes and 50% public opinion survey results.
